VIKING SOCCER LEAGUE
Viking Soccer League is part of the FPD Center for Discovery after school program. It is open to both FPD and non-FPD students in grades PRE-K - 5th grade.
What is Viking Soccer League?
Viking Soccer Leagueis a recreational intramural soccer program for boys and girls (3-K through the sixth grade, depending on the number of participants). It is designed to promote fun, fellowship and general understanding of the great game of soccer. It is a "games only" league with short warm-up sessions on game-days only. There will be no official team activities done on non-game days.
Where and when will games and practices be held?
All Viking Soccer League games will be played at the main soccer game field at First Presbyterian Day School. Typically, games will take place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, with select Fridays being set aside for make-up games. Weekday games will have a 4:00 kickoff for all teams. Teams should report to the field 15 minutes prior to their kickoff for a brief soccer warm-up and team devotional.
Teams will be scheduled to play 1 - 2 games per week. Games begin late September, weather permitting. NO games will be played on weekends. A full schedule of games for each division is on the homepage. Please plan to play on each of these dates as we will not have a schedule available until just before the start of the season. Games will last one hour consisting of two 25-minute halves and a 5-minute half-time period for most teams. Pre-K teams will play multiple sessions on each game date.
What if my child has no soccer experience?
No problem! This is an instructional and recreational league, particularly in the younger age groups. The game of soccer is easy to understand and coaches will take their time instructing the players. The primary goal is for the participants to have fun. There is no better place to start playing soccer than with your child's classmates and under the supervision of people who want to ensure a positive experience.
May non-FPD students participate in VSL?
YES! Although VSL is not heavily promoted outside the FPD community, students enrolled in other schools are encouraged to participate. Please invite a friend to participate in the league even if they do not attend the school.
Who will coach the teams?
Team coaches will be FPD high school varsity players that have been approved by director and head varsity boy's and girl's coach, Joshua Trieste. Coaches will be assigned to teams after registration and some teams will have multiple coaches to direct the team.
Will there be practices?
Each match will be preceded with a short training session led by the team coach. The sessions are prepared by the League Director and furnished to the coach for his/her use. VSL does not schedule additional practices for the teams. Training opportunites are available for older players, but these are held on days outside the VSL game days.
How do I register?
Registrations are available on-line through this website (www.vikingsoccerleague.com) and this will take you to the FPD Center for Discovery website. Early registration is encouraged. Late registrations will only be accepted as needed, since teams will start forming immediately after the deadline.

The also helps supply league supplies (balls, goals, field paint, etc.), referees and end of year medallions for younger players.
